any other section of the state, the Crossroads has a
pivotal hub which is the uncontested center of things,
Alexandria/Pineville.
Louisiana is a land of

total enrollment of 24,000 students. There are also

approximately 3,000 students.
Rapides Parish is the
region's medical headquarters. The four major acute
area facilities in Central Louisiana are Rapides Regional
Medical Center, St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, the Veterans
Affairs Medical Center, and Huey P. Long Medical Center,
which together have 2,000 beds.
